Photos of Larache, Morocco

Larache, Morocco is a sleepy little fishing town in northern Morocco. The medina here has a spanish flavor and the people - some of them, at least -
speak Spanish rather than the more common French. The people here are friendly without the motives of the merchants in many of the more tourist-visited
cities throughout Morocco. I visited Larache largely because I was interested in seeing the ruins of Lixus, which were a big disappointment. But
the town of Larache, itself, was a quiet place to relax. Be warned, however, there's not a great deal here to appeal to tourists.

Larache is a mix of drab and colorful. There are sections of the medina - like this - that are colorful and tidy and very appealing to see.

Unlike the neat and tidy kasbah of Rabat, the medina streets of Larache are more varied in their choices of colors.

Morocco has a long coastline with the Atlantic Ocean. Larache, like many coastal cities in Morocco, is a fishing village. The boats in the port
run the gamut in size and color.

As I wandered through the medina of Larache, I encountered the open doorway to the living quarters of this cow.

There is no question that blue is a popular color in Morocco.
