Southern Morocco is stunningly beautiful. I could easily imagine spending months traveling and exploring the "route of a thousand kasbahs". I traveled through the Dades and Todras Gorge on my way to Erg Chebbi in the Sahara Desert.

Along the route of a thousand kasbahs, there are - amazingly - kasbahs by the hundreds. So many, so scenic. I could easily spend a couple of months exploring this region of Morocco.

a village in the Dades Gorge. The buildings match the color of the surrounding
mountains - a fact not too surprising considering they're made from the same earth and clay.
This village in the Dades Gorge is barely visible - blending in with the surrounding mountainside. It is no wonder their colors blend. Afterall, the buildings are made from the same clay and earth as the mountains.
